Longview Vineyard is a family-owned vineyard situated near Macclesfield in the picturesque Adelaide Hills. Since its first vintage in 2001, Longview has quickly earned a reputation as one of Australia’s most awarded vineyards, known for its commitment to quality and innovation.
Vintage Notes
The 2022 vintage in the Adelaide Hills was near-perfect, with excellent rainfall in Spring and mild breezes dispersing any summer showers. Cooler temperatures and mild Spring conditions ensured optimal flowering. Increased wire-lifting and leaf-plucking exposed the fruit zone, enhancing ripening. The long ripening period from veraison to harvest resulted in exceptionally complex fruit flavour, slow sugar development, and excellent acid retention.
Vineyard & Winemaking Notes
All fruit for the Vista Shiraz Barbera 2022 is hand-picked. Both varietals were de-stemmed and crushed before undergoing a cool, open co-ferment for 14 days. The wine matures in 3rd and 4th use French Oak Hogsheads for 10 months before bottling.
